President Obama's online Thanksgiving address has caused an outrage among the public after he failed to make a reference to God.
Every week the White House releases a public address on what they feel is appropriate to focus on. This week the address was for Thanksgiving. However Obama did not thank God during the length of the speech.
His critics and other columnists not just in tha U.S. but also in Britain have noticed this mistake. They immediately took to Twitter and the Internet to voice anger and disbelief.
"Holy cow! Is that one screwed up or what?" columnist Sherman Frederick of the Las Vegas Review-Journal wrote in a Thanksgiving-morning blog post.
"Somebody ought to remind Obama (and his speechwriter) that when Americans sit down around a meal today and give thanks, they give thanks to God."
Over on the website of Fox News Radio, radio host Todd Starnes also took issue.
"His remarks were void of any religious references, although Thanksgiving is a holiday traditionally steeped in giving thanks and praise to God," Starnes wrote.
"The president said his family was 'reflecting on how truly lucky we truly are,'" Starnes said. "For many Americans, though, Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on how blessed and thankful they are."
The popular website of London's Daily Mail took the issue global, with a story under the headline "What a Turkey! Outrage as Obama Leaves God Out of His Thanksgiving Address."
But was it really a mistake? Thanksgiving is the long tradition where Americans give thanks to God for all the blessings that they have received during the entire year and pray for continued blessing in the year to come.
Obviously there is considerably less for Americans to be thankful for since Obama became president. He did mention the soup kitchens though. And with his failed policies, we obviously are in need of more soup kitchens. Also thanks to him, many were not feeling particularly thankful this Thanksgiving.
However, Obama and his handlers are hopefully not ignorant enough as to not realize that failing to give thanks to God during a Thanksgiving speech would cause an angry reaction. Most likely it was a deliberate slap in the face to Christians from a Godless, hopefully soon to be, former president.
